A great start to this one...
The husband (and potential killer?) is a deceitful, selfish ass; Flynn is doing a great job of building the reader's strong distaste for this protagonist.

Finishing up a solid novel I'd classify as Literary Fiction: Nightwoods by Charles Frazier, the guy who wrote Cold Mountain. A tad slow at first, but the final 100 pages are intense. The world is a brutal, unforgiving place filled with self-serving semi-literate villains in Frazier's novels.
