I’m finding it beautifully poignant right now.

I’ve had a few days of sorting through my late mums belongings (ironically the starting of this book- seems very “synchronicitous” with this emotive task)- I must add I knew nothing of this book but the title.

Wow I don’t know what I was expecting with this book “something fluffy and girly” whoops.
interested to see where this is goes in part 2.

Ashamed to say I thought I was a well educated..
as privileged white woman many could argue I am (that’s another debate).
Maybe it’s because the vain of racism runs so deep that is easily glossed over.

I’m learning something new with every page for the better.

“White children are taught not to see race.. where as children of colour are taught, often with no explanation that we must work twice as hard as our white counterparts if we wish to succeed. There is a disparity here- colour blindness does not get to the root of racism; meanwhile it nearly impossible for children of colour to educate ourselves out of racist stereotyping”

My mind is being blown..

It interesting hear the British history from a different perspective, the poor treatment and segregation of Indian fighters Sepoy’s that had come to fight for Britain in the World War.

Everything my Grandad taught me about the true meaning of Free Country & Immigration.

Everyone needs to read this book.

Not my usual kind of read I’ll be honest but it’s more important now then ever that I educate myself, in order to support others.

It’s definitely got me thinking from a totally different perspective.
I can’t deny that shamefully as privileged white women there is some very previously
blinkered but stark truths that I had never seen before.

Definitely a book to read in the daytime but very enjoyable so far 👻

I’ve read this book countless times, but I’ve always ended up giving my copy away to friends or family that I felt needed it more.

My first copy went to my Mum when she first started chemotherapy.
My second copy went to a friend suffering a crisis and felt she needed something to have fun with.
My third copy went to a colleague battling with ED.

This copy? This is mine, if my time now, to play & reconnect.
