What’s up with the writing? I already know this book is definitely not for me

This is taking me so long to read and it’s only 200 pages. Why is there a story within a story, a story that the main character made up? Where’s the horror? When are they going to embark on that journey to find the dead body?

Reading this book feels like studying pictures of dead bodies at my work (I love it)

Where is the horror in this book? There should be SOMETHING happening by page 56 when it has only over 300 pages 😐

I hope it gets better because so far it’s meh and nothing’s really happened, it’s so slow. I also don’t like April’s POV or maybe it’s the writing style idk
