The only reason I’m still reading it is so I can say I read it in full and still didn’t like it. I’m not enjoying it. I hate the protagonist. I have problems with the characterization of other characters and worst of all, I have problems with the author’s decisions. I won’t be reading further in the series and might not read more from the author altogether. This is a disappointment.

I’m not enjoying it, at all. I’m reading fast because I want it to end and I’m reading it because everyone praises this book. But it’ll take a miracle for me to continue on with this series.

I’m reading this book because it so high rated and people speak so well about it, but so far, I’m annoyed at our protagonist and the narrative. I’m considering not finishing it.

This has been a 4 star read. A lot of injustice, corruption and powerlessness. Our MC is wrong when jumps to conclusions and when he doesn’t see what’s in his face, which is frustrating. The bumps are small and I’m enjoying the story, even with the sour moments.

I’m trying to stay open to the story being told and let go of the story I want to hear. The characters and the I justice have been a little frustrating, but I’m still interested in seeing where the story goes. Our main character is a little too dumb and always has to be saved. I like the world building so far.

I was hooked from the get go but as it went on, I was surprisingly finding a lot of bumps with the logic and the descriptions. A little cliche at times, specifically with the romance from nowhere and the blood oath with the bully. That wasn’t a great start. Also we’re still at the trials but the book’s name reveals we get bound and it’s with iron, but so far, we’re still getting there.

Easy to read. Very heteronormative. But even when I roll my eyes, I don’t lose interest.

There are 2 reasons I’m reading this: it’s short and it’s a new release. Otherwise, I’d dnf it. I’m not connecting to the story.

At this point, I want to finish it just to see it through, not because I’m enjoying it. I’m not hating it, it’s just not for me. I’ve lost interest and I probably won’t be reading book 2.

It’s enjoyable but I’m detaching as the story goes on. Some of the dialogue is getting me frustrated either by their attitude or their lack of reality. I also don’t care for the politics of lords and their ego. The silencing gets under my skin. And I’m losing interest in the characters. I’m keeping an open mind and I still feel like reading it, but it’s not because I’m liking it, it’s just to finish.

Interesting story, but feels like a sinking ship because it’s leaking meaning and sense. It started out as a 5 star and now it’s a 3.

I’m interested in the story. Even with heavy themes, the only thing that bothered my reading experience is the narrator talking about the future and the outcome of things. It drains the tension and makes the present frustrating.

Still hating the protagonist. I was enjoying the story so far but the recent developments feel very heavy handed. If this keeps up, I’m not sure I’ll continue on to the second book after finishing this one. At least I’m still thinking of finishing it, but as we move along, I’m feeling more detached and ready to let go.

The book is flowing and the protagonist has not grown on me. I’m interested in understanding the mystery and seeing justice done. I question as to why was it needed that he attached himself to a 10yo street girl. With how ruthless this world has shown itself to be, I wonder why was it necessary to have one of the main characters be a child.

The writing style felt a little heavy at first but I don’t feel it anymore, it’s flowing. I’m interested in the world and the story but I’m already annoyed with the protagonist. It’s tolerable, but it’d be better if I was connecting instead of rolling my eyes.

I’m mostly enjoying the story, but I’m not enjoying our narrator, her decisions and our main character’s dismissiveness of problems at hand. It’s frustrating, like watching a car accident happen and not being able to do anything. The story is flowing and my problems are personal and mostly not logical, which is a relief.

The pace is slow, but we’ve had some twists that don’t make sense but cut the story short. Our main characters always get saved when they’re in trouble so I don’t understand how they’re capable. The dialogue is also off, it seems like what the author wants you to know instead of the character saying something. I’m surprised I’m still here.

Second half of the book went a little smoother, but just compared to the first half because it’s still a lot of bumps. Mostly a frustrating experience for me. I’m still surprised it’s the same author, not because of the writing but because my experience was so vastly different between the first and second books. I’m glad I’m almost done but not for good reasons.

I’m still surprised that my experience has been mostly of frustration so far. Our protagonist has been learning to fight but he mostly doesn’t know shit. And there are a lot of chapters without him. This has been a 3 stars read and it might lower to 2, depending on how much the authors forces the plot. I can’t believe this is what follows my 5 star reading of the first book. I was so excited.

I’m surprised to say that i came off the first book really excited to read the next but this has been a huge disappointment so far. Aside from the useless fat phobic moment, and the confirmed misogyny of the Pure, our MC has done nothing but be manipulated cluelessly. Nothing happened besides going to an oracle who spelled DOOM. It’s a fifth of the book!! What a let down!

It’s been mostly a smooth ride. Still enjoying the book and excited about what’s to come. A little worried that the author was a bit ruthless about some deaths and our protagonist was useless for the most part, but it’s still within good sense, so no harsh judgement. There’s a lot to look forward to.
