It should be illegal to use the word "succor" so many times.

I always forget that there's still like half the book left still after the ring gets destroyed.

"Some advice from a long-married woman: every time he speaks, close your eyes and think of England." lol. I am utterly charmed by this book.

Weird week to start a book that begins with laments about an Italian assassin. XD

Mina getting all giddy about doing a "real interview" and then going on about Seward's physical features for a page was delightful. Imagining Stoker having a little petty feminist moment while deciding on wildly obvious foreshadowing that the men "protecting" Mina by leaving her alone is not going to turn out well....also delightful. Suddenly swarming rats... not delightful, but it is spooky season I guess.

If I've read this before, I truly can't remember it so it's been a joy experiencing these characters. Something is super endearing and silly about Harker constantly writing down all the stuff he wants to tell his wife and Lucy's first intro as a character being despairing over not being able to marry three men she had "moments" with.

The first 100 pages or so were a little slow for me but boy this is a master class in how to write manipulative dickhead characters so far. But really, if Kennit and Kyle don't get their proper comeuppance in this series, I'm going to be very annoyed.

If I didn't have a bizarre compulsion about finishing books I've already made it this far through, I would probably DNF it. This was the best reviewed book in this series and I'm honestly trying to figure out why. It's repetitive and the pacing is all over the place and I can't stand Poppy and the politics/reveals are overexplained in a way that makes them boring.

I might be on my way to writing my longest, most obnoxious review ever about a relatively obscure health book, y'all.

SIX pages in and we already have an anecdote about how the author told a complete stranger with no context that her large coffee with 2 Splenda was going to kill her and that wow, the lady actually thanked the author and ordered it with no Splenda instead of telling her to mind her own business! Le sigh.
