Why am I always so disappointed by these hyped up VE Schwab books? Like the plot is good generally, but these characters lack depth. In this book the only main character I could believe as a real multidimensional person was Charlotte and the only side character I liked was Matteo. It's not that I hated the others, they just left me feeling only apathy, a certain disinterest. I hate this feeling.

Damn, this book is quite different from what I expected. I can't say I don't like it. Also my paperback is so floppy. And it's so nice. I love soft floppy paperbacks.

I think this is my second reread and I'm so godsdamned glad I'm rereading it again for what's likely the third time now. It's always a struggle to start this one but the further in I am the more eager I feel to read more, to know more, for it to go faster but also to last endlessly.

I'll never get people who prefer Queen of Shadows over this one. This one is golden.

I'm gonna make it this time. I'm going to finish this reread. I can feel it. I'm all drawn in.

The first chapters of this one are always a bit of a struggle but I know it's so worth it to get through that part. Hope I can keep it up!🤞
