we still haven't talked about Kai being able to sniff good.
and while i do find it funny that Irene focused on the dress Rattigan is wearing, it does make her less dimensional(?).

Irene keeps talking about dresses and rules about womens clothes and social acceptability. anytime she can have thoughts that aren't about her work. its about that. and its real annoying.

we just learned that Kai can sniff good. also he has a brother. but idc about that as much. i want to know why Kai can sniff good. i've been reading a lot of shifter books recently. and thats all i can think of.

so i thought it said hungarian and jewish folklore.
its hungarian history and jewish mythos.
but...so far i do not recognize the mythos.
granted. i am not steeped in lore.
There is howeever. anti semitism. like not hidden behind fantasy veils. straight up the same anti semitism.

The misgendering, misogny, white knighting is too much.

I want to like Pat Rothfuss's writing.
I have so many questions while readign and it takes forever for them to be addressed if they even get answered.

i gotta remember that this is a story told by a storyteller to another storyteller. he said it himself. if there is another of your trade, you gotta pull all the stops. go for new adn intersting things.

I am listening to the audiobook. so i don't know how to spell a lot of the names. Kothe, the inn keeper, is my favorite. I want to know more about him and the silly little jobs he thinks he has to do to be an innkeeper. I want to see him try and explain all the creepy deadly bugs and bad things happening to the village while evading their questions.

I'm not convinced that Kvothe is impulsive.
My partner suggested the book to me and was baffled.
The things we know the kid did at this point: hire Ben, eavesdrop on people, bind his lungs to the outside wind.
Binding his lungs was...i guess impulsive. But that is one instance. He's just a neruodivergent kid. He's shown being crafty, calculating more than anything else.

so far i like the innkeeper. not the kvothe guy but person who runs an inn and is trying to build a life away/apart from his past.
