Damn it We are back to stupid ass fake New York accents from the narrator! Absolutely ridiculous. She is literally ruining this book and this story! I shall soldier on...

Starting to see why this book only has 3.5 stars ... It is weird and rambling at this point. I'll keep reading... I'd hate to DNF all the way at the end!

Okay the narrator has stopped with all the weird voices she was doing. Now she's reading normally, and there is no more detectable Long Island accent. 🗽😂

Insomnia time! This books keeps getting weirder. What is even happening?!! I can't put it down though.... It's mesmerizingly so strange...

Such an odd book, but so compelling at the same time. Who is this narrator? What happened to the main characters? There is a quiet danger to this story that is quite gripping.

I am listening to this one and WHY IN THE HELL IS THE NARRATOR GIVING ALL OF THE PEOPLE IN THIS BOOK WEIRD ACCENTS!? SHE'S MAKING THEM SOUND LIKE THEY'RE FROM LONG ISLAND AND THEY'RE FROM DETROIT! This might be a deal breaker

This book was on an AP Literature Q3 prompt list, and I'd never heard of it, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Very interesting so far!

Weird narration style, but I like it! I'm intrigued....

My daughter always says she hates "a book about a woman," and I agree. I fear this is a book about a woman ... 😳

It's very very good if you don't know lots about American History. I teach AP US History, so I feel like I'm sitting in my own class.

If you want to learn about some cool people, places, and things, this is the perfect book. It moves fast and covers lots of ground and there are good stories in here that you probably didn't learn in high school (or maybe even in college).

Idk if I will finish this one.

I don't love it but I don't hate it. I won't be reading any others in the series tho. So far it gets a C+

We were cruising along wonderfully, and then the last 40 pages it started to drag and now it's downright bogged down. Hoping it picks back up here in the end!

This author is actually hilarious. Like making some whip-smart jokes funny. I googled him. He's a stand-up comedian 😂🤣 THAT TRACKS!

Middle grade as a pallette cleanser. It works. Let's hope this is a good one.

Putting this down 100 pages in. Very boring. Easy read but also not an interesting read. Characters all sound the same and it makes it tough to tell who is who. Also lots of old people golfing and having dinner and talking about people who died. It's slow and dull.

Breaking my own rules here. I never read mystery books that have actual police officers investigating. Granted, this book has RETIRED officers, but that's essentially the same thing. It's not so bad so far. I much prefer the amateur detective books tho!!

Some of these stories have made me tear up. Women should rule the ENTIRE WORLD 🌎
