This is definitely one that I'm going to continue reading over the summer. I have to return this library copy but will find another when I'm back in the States. Just imitated Mandel's style in Ch. 6 - a list of "no mores" as an idea for my class to do a quick write. Quite fun!

"So Near, Yet So Far" is the most chilling short story for me so far. I have to take little breaks in between because it is depressing to read straight through. I skipped ahead to the afterword to read how this even came to be published as the author still lives in N. Korea. It's amazing how it was smuggled out.

This is not a genre I usually get into. Never thought I'd read a book about Cinderella as a cyborg, but after a few pages of figuring out Meyer's tech terms, I'm hooked. I can tell this is going to be a bad series for my sleep.

I've just cracked into this one and I'm cracking up already. Here's a taste: "When I was eight, he [protagonist's father who is a metallurgist] gave me a glass mercury thermometer, which I liked to chew on and wave like a wand. Eventually he remembered that mercury causes mental retardation."
