I've given too many 5 stars reviews recently, maybe even too many 4 stars, I may have to find some slop to read

I was eyeballing my fiction shelf today, ~250 novels over 25 years or so, and I was testing myself on how many of them for which I could today tell you the basic plot, or even any details at all. It was depressingly low, even for novels I praised. I don't know if this is a bad sign, or normal. Much of the nonfiction, on the other hand, I could rattle off a few details off the top of my head

I haven't actually started the book I claim I'm reading... I'm currently re-reading much of "Harvey and Lee".... still in JFK 60th afterglow

After all these hundreds of books read, it may be time for a year or so of re-reads of key books. I realized there are movies I've seen over and over and over, but very few books - particularly novels - that I've read more than once

I know I was supposed to be reading this but the type is extremely small and I think I'm due for an update to my eyeglasses so I'm going to bail out for now

unfortunately, in an effort to combat what I hope is just severe eye strain, I will be not reading for a few weeks...

I am behind on my reading, both from moving and I felt my eyeglass prescription needed an update, reading was becoming a strain. My new eyeglasses are on the way and soon I'll be reading again. Thank you for your patience
