OMGOMGOMG!

Seriously, this book starts with the characters in a dire situation, and the "dire" just keeps getting more so. I can see why Jeff Vandermeer blurbed it; inexplicable body-horror and, oh yeah, there's a bear. Really enjoying this read.

Loving this book so far. The first-person narrator, Cassandra Mortmain, is witty, charming and likeable. Hadn't realized until I read the blurb that I've read Dodie Smith before; she also wrote 101 Dalmatians, which I read and enjoyed when I was 10.

Screw it. I give up. I'm so done with this.

This is a reread, and I can't believe I forgot about the major plot twist!

Strong appreciation for the foreshadowing throughout, especially between Rand and Elayne. Despite the insane and ridiculous amount of time (and number of words) between Book 1 and Book 14, Jordan had solid character arcs planned from the very beginning.

So, I wavered between reading this, or Dune. I may have chosen poorly. Not sure I want to begin a full-on reread of the entire series, which, last time, took almost a year, at a time when I had nothing better to do than read all day long. I'll just read this one book and get on with my life. I can quit any time I like ... right?
