This is definitely an indepth look at NDEs throughout history. I find myself just reading only what I'm looking for. Wow near death experiences have been very consistent even before Christianity. It cements the existence of heaven and hell and the severing of body and soul after death. Amazing stuff. Dying centuries ago is literally the same experiences as those who have died last year and lived again to tell it.

Good grief introductions in old books are the woooorsst... Why should a book need an introduction it's the most diabolical thing!!!

Writing reminds me of Caribbean writers. Interesting from primitive Alabama. Definitely well written but difficult to pay attention the first few chapters...now the story is going somewhere....we shall see where it goes....

Existential crisis we all face as human beings. Matt Haig capture it well in the beginning. Especially the feelings one experiences when being consumed by depression. I know it intimately. I've been at that breaking point myself once.

Things are culminating, like train chugging slowly up a hill, as ending in spurts... I also appreciate the character development happening at this point....everyone is an almost well defined personality and fairly predictable way about them.

It's interesting how much of this story is developing in only one part of a Russian hotel lol. House arrest can certainly be made eventful 😂. The Novel seems to have a gentle and somewhat undulating pace. Which leaves you rather intrigued than bored or overly excited. It's a good pace for evening coffee.
