Oh, it’s been awhile since I’ve read such fun journalism/nonfic. She explores the science, practice, and art behind taste, sommelier life, and those wine obsessed (“cork dorks”,). Good tips about how to expand your taste and smell skills too!

As someone who worked in third wave coffee in 2011-2017, and watched a past partner get his cicerone (beer som) while being a craft brew sales, this is rad and fun!

Dana is starting Soul of a Citizen: Living With Conviction in a Cynical Time
I’ve been wondering when we pivoted our collective engagement from “citizens” to consumers, and this book appeared in my neighborhood free little library!

Having just tackled the introduction, I feel like it’s a must read, for everyone, everywhere. Loeb lays out the same issues in 1999 that are happening today, and urges us to lean on each other and speak up. Fabulous.

Fascinating and informative—the author does a great job of drawing you in and telling a connected story across industries and decades, genres and influences. As a millennial who was a bit too young in the 90’s to understand the nuances of advertising and music, this does a phenomenal job of explaining the background tension and politic behind the way women & girls are perceived, and told how to act.
