I'm starting to think the author is also a millennial bc of the pop culture references slipped in.

Tieks are mentioned as "expensive" shoes. Odd since I know they're popular with teachers not known for large incomes.

LuLaRoe was a brand mentioned earlier, the bright colored MLM stretchy leggings.

Its so weird that these are the brands mentioned for vacationing authors vs general descriptions.

That twinkle in his eye was undimmed. The twinkle that gave an entirely undeserved suggestion of wisdom and charm. The twinkle that could make you walk down the aisle with a man almost ten years your junior and regret it within months. The twinkle you soon realize is actually the beam of a lighthouse, warning you off the rocks.

I wish there was more of this and less puzzling unnecessary item descriptions

As a long time knitter/crafter I've never made friendship bracelets by knitting yarn.
You normally make them out of embroidery thread by a method of making knots similar to macramé.

Yet another specific detail that seems unlikely

“What’s your eye shadow?” Connie asks Donna. “Pat McGrath, Gold Standard,” says Donna. “It’s lush,” says Connie. “Anyway, business all done for today if you wanted to go home. And you haven’t seen anything I didn’t want you to see for the last two weeks.”

Donna, the officer who I found unlikable in book 1, wears a very pigmented gold eyeshadow for a car stake out. Seems like an unlikely color for that.

It’s sitting like a stone just under her heart. She had arrested a shoplifter in Fairhaven last week, and when he had struggled, she had brought him down with a baton behind the knees. She was aware she had hit him much harder than she should. Sometimes you just had to hit things.

After reading that paragraph I knew I'd never care for her character in this story.

Previous demon kidnapping of her little sister causally mentioned. Had to check this is book one.

Just finished the first one Sunday, started this one tonight. In the A they say she learned to drink her coffee black as a should she ever have to life skill. Page 4 she's using cream.... weird little discrepancies like the first book already.

Just stared the Kindle series of this last night.....Fables got ripped off. This book also starts with a Snow White who works for a secret government agency to control fable mishaps from affecting the human world. Seems like I've read this story before but with amazing illustrations......
