Toda was also the grandmother of Sancho “the Fat,” king of León, who came to the throne in 956. His succession was put in danger by his obesity, which was so great that it prevented him from even mounting a horse, and in 958 he was deposed by his cousin Ordoño, also Toda’s grandson. After his cousin’s death, Sancho re-covered the throne but was deposed two years later by an upstart nobleman.
