I find it interesting that the author mentions a book on Christmas 100 years ago since this book is itself 50 years old.

Lots of description, recipes are inserted in the text but text does give page numbers of recipes as you read.

It would have been nice to have captions on the pictures.

At the point where she's discussing quilting. She's got a modern concept of quilting, where you use new fabric. I grew up out west in a quilting family and my Grandma lived in a small town. If you were a quilter you saved good scraps of cloth, anything you could get your hands on. We have blankets where you can name each fabric. But she's right on the quilting frames, they're huge! My sister has ours currently.
