I'm getting bored. I'm nearly done, but the constant attention to sex, sex, and more sex ... even though this isn't really about sex or that kind of relationship.

I'm pausing on this. Right now...not the right book.

Somehow I missed this one...

I dunno - I've slowed down on this. Maybe it's because I know so much of the story already; maybe because it's not where my head is right now; maybe it's because it feels like the nation is currently betraying its founders.

I dunno if I can finish this. It's distant omniscience and it's full of distasteful characters with whom I have little empathy or common ground. It's a book club selection but even so...

If you're a woman, this book will make you angry. It is eye-opening in the breadth of what it analyzes but not surprising.

Not doing it for me. Self-congratulatory in a weird way.
I think I shall not finish.

Slowly savoring this - a few entries at a time.

This is just the most delightful book!
I'd love to have Dame Judi to supper just to listen to her.

Some day I shall finish. It's difficult, I find, to hold a hardback book these days, even though the paper/binding are light-weight. It's the size. But...this is the type of book you cannot read on an e-reader or tablet--the illustrations are numerous and too important to miss.

This is an amazing book.

Making progress. I don't know why I read Beard so sl-o-o-wly. Maybe my compulsive interest in ancient Rome has waned? So far, this is wonderfully readable and interestingly organized, with a lovely, lush selection of illustrations. I just read it it snippets.
