the last section talking about his daughter has slight reminded me of stoner by john williams

i think this was was said in part one but he mentions that if he didn’t pursue medical field/writing that maybe he would’ve been a priest since he grew up religious and that combo of things is really shaping my perspective of him while reading (in a good way)

i need this author to know literally no one cares about her personal feeling on didon

after this book i need to read articles hating on eve for some variety

half in and she’s just now getting back to the eve’s archives …

the writing style in this book reminds me of reviewing grad school level papers and realizing that a chunk of my peer are so in grossed in their research and passion they forget to humanize what their writing about

i could already tell i hated the author by reading the introduction but i held out in hope that this would still provide a somewhat interesting recap of didon and babitz connection and career’s as writers. Instead i’ve learned far to many details about about eve babiz’s dating life and her narrow minded view of los angeles

i might dnf this guys it’s kinda boring

i’m trying to imagine reading this from the pov of someone who dosent have a history/knowledge of some of the themes/topics of this book and yeah this book would be mind blowing

joan didion how do you always find a way to NOT meet my expectations
