Art is starting I Hear the Sunspot, Vol. 1 (I Hear the Sunspot #1)
Don’t come at me for starting this series again the same day I finished it, it’s my emotional support manga while I face the adversity of applying to masters programs

I’m vibing real hard. Enjoying the country-specific world building, love the use of conflicting religions, really love how the different country’s details connect to one another, I’m actually enjoying all the POVs and switching between them… why did I not pick this book up sooner?

This is… not it. I’m DNFing. I wanted to finish it, write a review even if it was negative, but I couldn’t make it. The information in this urban fantasy book is harder to retain than an epic high fantasy. I don’t care about anything, barely understand why tf MC is doing certain things, and feel like the info in this story is just poorly communicated. I can’t bring myself to read any more of this.

Ooh, this is nice as a reread. There’s a certain thing that, when it’s revealed, recontextualizes a lot of chapters, so rereading this book and knowing vaguely what that new context is is really cool. All of the seeds are definitely here, the beginning of the book was definitely written with the later reveal in mind.

Feeling…. Mixed on this. I keep running into things that I don’t think quite make sense or I just want more expansion on. But I do actually quite enjoy other parts of this, namely anything relating to the MC seeing the dead, and also some of the character interactions. When the MC is let to be herself without stuff that doesn’t make sense thrown in, I like her and her personality. We’ll where it goes.
