I don’t know why I always believe Booktok, I went into this thinking it’d be a “better” romance novel but the writing quality is still the same. Occasionally funny lines but overall cliche and cheesy. I may still continue because at least they’re quick reads but this isn’t anything special.

Three chapters in and I am already seeing red flags in the writing - going to give it more time because it reads quickly, but I’m struggling with how cliche the characters are. It feels as though the author took the very generic descriptions of detective and sociopath and used that to write a very formulaic idea of what those look like.
