Interesting to read about Karl Marx, a jew by background, but a virulent anti-Semite, and how his theory of Socialism morphed from anti-Semitic tropes as emblematic of capitalism into demonising an entire "class"

Really interesting to learn about the "court Jews" of Europe, serving princes and regents faithfully during periods of crisis in Europe, only to be betrayed by successive rulers, naked greed leading to seizures and arrests. Also amazing to learn about the Oppenheimer's and the defence of Vienna for the Hapsburgs.
Also enjoying learning about mystic Kabbalah and all the craziness surrounding it and false messiahs

Still really enjoying this. Really interesting to see the development of Christianity and Islam out into context against what was happening to Jews in the middle east and Europe during that time

Thoroughly depressing to see the levels of anti-semitism perpetrated in both Christian and Moslem world (that continues to this day), the bare faced cycnicism with which it was deployed

Really enjoying this book, took a while to get into it as some of the early chapters on the nature of knowledge are quite esoteric (back make more sense later on in the book.

Really liked the discussion around optimistic and pessimistic societies, rational vs irrational memes, the link to static and progressive societies. Enjoying David's views around our approach to climate change and suitability of sustainability

Wow, loved the "over-fitting" analysis, so relevant to various types of work I do. Trying to know when near enough is good enough (or in fact optimal)...

Really enjoying this so far, loving the applications of these algorithms to everyday situations, such sporting tournaments and ranking, searching for candidates etc.

Some great insights so far. Enjoyed his analysis of what makes revolutions succeed and who is best placed to full power vacuums. The discussion around the human spark (ie what makes or doesn't make) us different from animals was also really intriguing.

Not sure I agree on Yuval's take on humanism, seems a little simplistic (particularly in light of some of his nuanced take on philosophers like epicurus)
