Aled reminds me so much of myself at his age that I am terrified something awful is going to happen. It’s making my stomach hurt with anxiety. My only consolation is that people don’t talk about this as a tragic hopeless book.

i have spent every single story so far enraptured and unable to stop reading and then feel like it hit a brick wall at every ending. i am always so confused and i can’t tell whether it’s a good thing or not

I can say with confidence that “Books and Roses” enthralled me more thoroughly and immediately than I think a short story ever has before

I know I’ve been reading this INCREDIBLY slowly, but god it’s heavy. It’s hard to pick up and always tempting to put down, not because it’s bad but because it’s just so difficult to hear this all described.

I am working through this incredibly slowly, partly because my brain doesn’t want to let me read right now but also because I want to savor it. Sometimes I need an essay or two to remind me to stop and look at the beauty and the ugliness of the world and love it. I don’t need to swallow this down whole.

I barely have the attention span right now to read books I am loving, let alone ones I’m very much not enjoying. DNFing to free up space for something I might actually like.

I forgot how intensely sad some of these chapters are. Mom has cried more than once in the car listening to this. Have to keep reminding both of us that the ending will be worth it, will be healing

I have preordered a signed copy of every book by a Green brother since The Fault In Our Stars. I imagine I will continue to do this as long as they release new books. I love the podcast very very dearly and expect to love this as much or more. The introduction already almost made me cry.

My mom used to love reading but can’t do much of it anymore without getting headaches and eye pain, so I’m trying to introduce her to audiobooks. We work at the same company and commute 40 mins each way together every day, so we’re listening to this in the car. This was potentially my favorite book I read last year and I’m glad to be reading it again with her.
