By now, the war is cooling down for Roger. The irony of this book never cools down though. Once, he found a German undercover agent because of a bombing rain by the Germans on London!

Tom Robinson is killed. Mr. Well threatens Atticus, then tries to kill the children who are saved by Boo Radley.

I am enjoying this book even more as I discover more about the characters. The Tom Robinson case and the controversy over it also interests me.

I am really impressed by the contrast of the characters in this book. Harper Lee also does a great job of picturing the setting. Scout is the narrorator or and main character. She also has an older brother named Jem, and a friend named Dill. The Radleys appear to be the antagonists. They rarely leave their house and never go to church. The book also involves skirmishes between races.

This is a hilarious account of Roger Hall's service in the OSS, the predecessor of the CIA. He joined the service once the United States entered WWII. It is hilarious because of all of the ironies of the secret service. One time, he was supposed to be parachuted behing german lines, but found himself inside of the allied lines because the army was advancing so quickly.

This book is really getting exiting, as Werner just got promoted to ensign, and they have already sunk a few British ships. He provided some a very good account of the combat.

Towards the end of the book, There is less combat for Gover. He wanted to get back home to California by Christmas, but he was delayed until Febuary. By the time he got home he found out that he was a hometown hero, and that the paper wrote about him every week. After a month of leave he was scheduled to go back to Britain, but was posted at a training base to teach new pilots.

Gover, the pilot, is now a lieutenant colonel, and has flown 160 combat missions for 306 hours. He transferred to the USAAF in March, 1942. Since the last time I posted, his squadron changed plane types 3 time and has shot down more enemy planes than any other squadron in Europe. This book has been hard to put down.

I am enjoying this book. It is about a pilot who flew acrobatic airplanes before the war and then joined a Royal Air Force squadron just after the Battle of Britain. The interesting thing is that he joined it through their recruiting service in America, and then traveled overseas for advanced training in Spitfires. Currently he is getting his qualifying hours on that plane.
