Character vs Society is the conflict found in "The Oceans Between Stars".
The main character, Liam, has to fight another society of aliens called the Drove because the Drove wants to end humanity. The Drove destroyed the sun, causing humanity to flee to space. The Drove are trying to finish what they started, and Liam is trying to stop the Drove.

-Protagonist
The protagonist in "The Oceans Between Stars" is Liam Saunders-Chang. He has brown hair, brown eyes, and pale skin. He is a teenager who likes to go places he is not supposed, besides that, he is a nice kid. Other characters in "The Oceans Between Stars" find Liam to be a good person to talk to when they are feeling down. They also think he is a very enthusiastic friend.

-Visualize
While reading The Oceans Between Stars, I have imagined many different senses. The main way the author evokes these senses is by announcing the temperature. So far, one scene that I was able to visualize was the landing at the planet Delphi. I remember imagining a cold area with ice lakes. This environment was so quiet, the only voices audible were the voices in your head.

-Supporting Characters
In The Oceans Between Stars, a minor character in the story that supports the main character is JEFF. JEFF is a robot that is hidden under a panda exoskeleton. The purpose of JEFF is to aid the main character, Liam, by answering questions Liam may have, warn Liam of potential danger, calculate a flight path and fly on that path, and finally, make terrible jokes that nobody finds funny.

Making Connections
I made a text to self-connection with the Oceans Between Stars. In the book the main character, Liam, begins to miss his home in Mars which was engulfed by the sun. It reminded me of the time where I went to a baseball tournament in Arizona and began to miss my home after a few short days.

The genres of The Oceans Between Stars are definitely science fiction and action/adventure. I know this because the setting takes place in space. This shows that the characters are adventurous. This book is science fiction because the characters are in a ship that has space sleeping pods, which haven't been invented yet. The characters are also traveling out of the solar system, which hasn't been done yet.

Antagonist-
The opponents to the main characters in The Oceans Between Stars are a mysterious group of foreign beings that are trying to blend in with humans on a voyage to a new home in space. These aliens mean trouble, as they sabotaged the main character's ship's flight trajectory. This is bad news because the main character is on a ship alone and is trying to rendezvous with the rest of humanity to get home.

Phoebe has woken up from her stasis tube in a ship with her best friend, Liam. Liam is still in stasis, and will be for a few hours. Alien Phoebe takes this time to reapply her peeling human skin so Liam would trust her.

The Climax of the Darkest Minds is when a kid named Clancy takes advantage of the main character's need for help to get closer to her on a personal level. He then beat up Liam, one of the main characters, and held Ruby in a storage room. This is the climax because it shows anticipation for a huge attack on the storage room.
