At 39.5 weeks pregnant, and thus often being inordinately grumpy, I have to stop this audiobook and wait until I get a hard copy because the very British narrator keeps saying “CRISSSS-tee-in” instead of “Christian” and, well, it’s petty but I have but one life to live.

Content-wise, I have some mixed feelings and am looking forward to finishing the book and sorting them out.

Listening to the 25th anniversary audiobook narrated by Jessie Buckley - so far, a pleasure.

reading this in the majority of my spare minutes - captivating!

enjoying this for numerous reasons, not least of which is repeated usage of such pleasant words as Niche, Apse, and Plinth

this has been enjoyable so far, but didn’t need to be 500 pages - bit of a slog at this point and I do feel like I’m being hammered over the head with repeated motifs

Flannery hid this under my bed and I couldn’t find it for quite a while. Happy to be getting back!

A handful of chapters in and I'm so captivated by this so far. It has such a wonderful sense of wry New England almost-ghostliness that is truly a pleasure to absorb.

This prompted my husband to ask in a politely curious yet spousally annoyed tone of voice, “What’s so funny?” as I sat laughing to myself essay after essay after essay. Never met a Sedaris book I didn’t like!
