Starting on my odyssey reading The Oddsey!Narrator is Sir Ian McKellan

My favorite modern novels are Circe and Son of Achilles, and I’m dying to see the movie released this month (clearly not planning to finish the book before the movie). I know enough about the story and the characters from Circe and Achilles that I have a good feeling about this endeavor!

Anyone else dipping their toes in?

I’m not loving this book. The narrators are flat and boring. The story meanders too much. I’m pushing through because it’s a book club read, but I’m skeptical anything redeeming will happen in the last 4 hours.

Gotta love the unreliable narrator… enjoying the slow burn.

I'm going to DNF. Returning the book to Libro.fm. It's just not up to Kate Quinn standards. Moving on!!

This is okay. Is this a YA novel and I missed that designation?

It’s been on my “100 Books to read before You Die” list, per the BBC but it never appealed to me. But now that there’s a movie out, and it’s being talked about, I am resigned to reading it. At least the Audiobook’s narrator is getting rave reviews. Let’s do this!

Loving this one- a true story feisty lady.

Almost done- and I’m a sucker for feisty older women who do what they want.

Halfway-ish in... and love the story and characters and location. I have been to Montreal and Quebec City and now I want to go back again (and maybe stay forever, frankly). I had to visit a wiki page on the characters to see their names spelled out - the narrator is excellent with accents but I'm not fluent :)

Trying again.., I really like his other works and so many reviews love this book.

This book has me looking up nuclear war destruction and radiation damage to humans. Because I need more things to worry about than our current political problems and hostile takeover by elon and trump and Putin and MAGA. I was actually hoping that asteroid would solve the problem in a few years, but it looks like that’s off the table now.

Yikes!! Creepy ass story but fully plausible with technology today and the nationalist, far right mindset growing. I’m traveling but can’t put it down…

Ugh... listening to the audiobook. The main character "Story" is annoying AF and the story is bland and trivial. I used the GoodReads Discover section to find a holiday book that was lighthearted and funny for book club but this is not funny and much too light in the plot. I'm probably going to send it back. Not sure how it got so many high ratings.

I started this last night and listened today on the way to the airport- and just have to say the decision to go to the broadway play then spend the night in NYC is NOT going to end well…. This book has captured my interest right away. Pretty much can’t wait to get back to listening!

Halfway through and it's so well written, and I can't put it down but it's soo so sad.

I read this to fall asleep…. Slow. Marginally interesting. I’ve read two or three other books while this has been a current read. I’ll finish but it’s not my fav Meissner.

I don’t like this Book. Im dnf.

Enjoyed this book a lot- if you like elder heroines (the brilliant life of Eudora honeyset, et al,) you’ll enjoy this one.

Re-reading for book club- liked it the first time,

this is a reread - or re-listen- because i love this story but i do this hit/miss as i have time.
