Things I am certain of, so far: Gwen is a horny idiot, and not even a good psychologist.

And everyone keeps "filing things away for later" or "lets it slide". I don't like this.

It always comes back to magic huh

Now we're in magic territory???

I like the vibe of this book so far. It's giving The Last Movie, but if the focus was on the director, instead of the movie itself

Me screaming "no MEDDY NO" bc men ain't SHIT!!!

I don't know if I enjoy this part of the book, where Meddy is an acolyte in competition, simply because does Athena not want MORE priestesses in her temple?

Ed is such an idiot. Also, support women's rights and wrongs!

If imposter syndrome was a person, it would be Ed frrr

This book feels like there's two books happening at the same time

I'm feeling ambivalent so far, idk what the mystery is supposed to be~

Literally dragging my feet through this book rn. I'm so stressed for the main character lol

I'm liking the concept, definitely not vibing with the over explanation of things

Yes, he loves her. In his own limited way. His own stunted, selfish way. blehhhhhh

I hate how Annie's whole life has to revolve around this man. Fuuuuuuuuuuck you Doug

I HATE DOUG SO MUCH FUCK DOUGH

Just started the book, and may I just say

Fuck Doug, booooooo

Man's incompetence makes me laugh. Mordechai getting his just desserts is so cathartic to read.

There is something to be said about trauma, how it can split someone in two. I think this book explores that idea rather beautifully.

Why is every Freida chapter so introspective and "I worry about my home and family" and every Mordechai chapter is just moving the plot forward

It says something about patriarchy, but I won't go into it now.

This author is so good at taking me on a ride that I cannot stop. I'm in love

I'm so...confused ig. What is the point of this interlude?

he wished he was born in the 1950s [...] and white men like himself could make a damn joke without being crucified for it.

Omg this guy is a cartoon villain pls

Tasneem is so me frrrrrr

So weaponised incompetence runs in the family huh

Ummmm.....here's my prediction: she did use every part of her husband 🫣

Why does this book keep talking at me???

Maybe because she's got a crush on me, and all love is as blind as it needs to be.

Was this sus as fuck of Justineau to say? Yes. But in a whole thing about survival and having those odds....I think there's more than morality at stake. Idk, it's food for thought.

Now the mystery picks up??? This is so fucked

See, I knew this was coming. I predicted it all because this book is literally hitting every YA trope ever. Then I remind myself....they're in their 30s
