Read the introduction and stuck on how critical thinking is posited as being only on academic and studied texts. If you don't engage in this, then you aren't part of the discussion. Seems classist and while it is stated as anti intellectual, it feels as if the idea is that anything other than that is not intellectual. I worry about that as being a reason not to connect to the other and smacks of colonialism.

So, I found a note from me that says

First section describes an equally relevant way of explaining so called "chaos" theory. Since I do not believe in determinism but rather what is termed "absurd realism" this appeals to me."

I would be between the ages of 16-20. Bought the book in 97 when I would be 16.

Okay, trying this out. I have a lot of thoughts about this book. I originally read it when I bought it in 1997. Reading the intro and the first chapter, I can see why I was able to read it and be right on.

There was a sticky on the inside cover written by me. it talks about chaos theory. I would have been sixteen at the time.

This is one of four epics that I am reading this year. Walking Dead (almost caught up), Odyssey and Iliad, and Game of Thrones. Making good time on this one already. Third time trying to read it. Furthest I have gotten so far.
