There are points in this book where I honestly wondered how he didn’t fly off into a rage and smash his laptop while writing this...

He has some interesting comments on the roots of fascistic violence, and some somewhat controversial comments with regard to attitudes towards refugees. I’ve given him the benefit of doubt, and tried to see where his line of reasoning is going. I’m hoping he charts a path towards some type of peaceful coexistence, but I’m not so sure he sees peace as the likely path our species will choose.

The introduction of this book is work the price of the book alone. It is very helpful in giving an insight into Hegel’s project by contrasting it with Spinoza, Kant, Fichte, Göethe, Schelling, and even Kierkegaard.
