I'm sorry...WHAT is this narration? I'll give it a bit but I'm not sure I'll survive the trip to wheelchair camp if this keeps up. The general narrator voice is fine but the "voices" he's using...yikes...

🤣 What am I reading right now? I got distracted by other things yesterday and paused this around 24%. At 25% now and...what? I did not know this was the direction this story would take.

Only 3% in and I already think I hate it...

I've read the first 5 stories of this and so far I'm really enjoying it. The first 3 were my favorites and the next 2 were good but probably not the most memorable. But something I'm loving about all of them is that there is a note from the author at the end of each that talks about the inspiration behind each story and I'm very interested in how these touch on Christmas time traditions from around the world.

Only 14% into this and I already want to cry...

About a third of the way through and I am still loving this. I am so impressed how vivid I am able to see the events and feel what the characters are feeling with so few words on each page. Really enjoying this journey.

I still have quite a ways to go...but I am thoroughly enjoying this one. I can feel the anxiety of being left along, not knowing what is going on, etc. I wasn't sure how I would like a novel in verse...but I'm really loving it.

I've finished the first 3 stories in this collection and I am really enjoying it. I'm not sure what I was expecting when I picked it up...but these stories are really getting to me. They're thought provoking and are the kind you just want to sit with for a while after you finish them. I already know this is a collection I will be keeping so I can return to these stories again in the future.

I'm still absolutely loving this. YA books don't usually work for me these days...something about the writing style that just doesn't appeal to me...but this is different. This feels like the YA of the 90s that I used to love with Fear Street, Christopher Pike, etc...but even better. I honestly don't want to stop reading...but this Halloween costume isn't going to make itself so I don't have a choice...

I'm only 10% in...but I am in love with the writing in this book. It's just making everything come alive for me. Like...I can smell the fresh air and feel the breeze. I am completely immersed in this story.

My plan is to read a story a day this month.

Last night, I read Kushtuka and I liked it but didn't love it. 3 stars.

Tonight, I read White Hills and thought it was excellent. Would love a longer version of that story. 4 stars.

Totally random...but I like the Goodreads cover on this way more than the one on my Kindle...

I'm only a few chapters in...but between these chapters and the authors note at the beginning...if this is NOT 5 stars I will be completely shocked. I am loving it so far.

Let me just say...I'm not done yet...but this book completely grabbed me and sucked me in from the first chapter. I feel like I am living this right along side the characters and it is super creepy at the moment. Loving it.

Switched to the ebook version and I think maybe this got an update when the ebook disappeared for a while because the grammar/style issues I was having in thr beginning have disappeared. Also...my ebook says I'm on Chapter 23 but in the physical copy this is Chapter 22. Regardless...this book has me alternating between crying and smiling/laughing. Feeling all the feelings now...wow.

Mixed feelings so far. The writing is...rough...not gonna lie. But the story, so far, is pretty emotional as has me hooked...I've already cried a couple times. Cautiously optimistic that the story will be enough to make up for the rough writing.

40% in and I have finished 9 stories. All of them have been good but 3 of them...wow...they will probably live inside my head forever. 5 more to go...fingers crossed they are just as good. Not gory...at least not the ones I've read so far...but genuinely creepy/eerie stories.

This is by far the strangest holiday read on my TBR...and I haven't read any of the other books in the series...but now I kinda want to. What I'm saying is...I was not expecting to really like a "sci-fi alien warrior romance holiday novella"...but I'm kinda diggin this. Merry Christmas to me!

I am LOVING this one! Hands down, my favorite Thanksgiving book I've read this month and it's what I've been looking for all month long. The perfect mix of the holiday, family, steamy bits, and laughter. I can't stop smiling reading this.

I haven't had as much time to read physically as I would like this week...but I am LOVING this one so far.

Friends...I am on the STRUGGLE BUS with this one. People do not talk like this, think like this, or act like this. Oh...you've been vandalizing my farm and stalking me since we were in school together? Well...let's play paintball and each bring our friends and if you win I delete the surveillance footage of you trespassing and assaulting me and vandalizing my property but if I win then you leave me alone. WHAT?!

This...is rough. Not a fan of this writing and I am finding it painfully dull. Sad...as I was really looking forward to this one.

Finished the first story, Red Falls, this morning and...wow...I did not see that coming. Like...at all. I am thoroughly creeped out and haven't been able to get that ending out of my head.

I gotta be honest...I am LOVING this. Allison picked it out at the library and I thought I should pre-read the stories just to see what we would be in for because they seemed dark...and they are DARK. Lots of dead kids and the illustrations are very creepy in a Tim Burton kind of way. A couple of stories were just ok for me...but most have been excellent.

I am still really enjoying this one. The story is pretty creepy...but the writing overall is just OK for me so far.
