There are never enough hours in the day. Not sure if I like it as much as the first one yet but the plot is interesting and as always, it is well written.

Foiled by Spotify again. Almost done but out of hours. Ridiculous especially as it's just getting interesting.

I love this story. If you've been put off from reading it by its history in HP fan fiction, ignore it. This has nothing to do with it whatsoever. The writing is excellent, the story gripping, the characters credible, the love story works and is better for the inherent tragedy of the characters and their flaws. It's dark and gritty, and one of my favourite books this year.

I bought this not realising it was the fifth in the series. However, I had watched TV series and continued reading. It works reasonably well as a standalone that way. I enjoyed the story although at times the characters felt a little clichee and stilted. I might re-read it when I've read the previous ones in the series.

Argggh. I hate Spotify's 15 hour limit. Most books I read are longer than that and then I have to wait a month to listen to the last third or quarter. At least let us finish a book!

Sybille is finished with Parable of the Sower (Earthseed, #1)
I wanted to like this book and part of me did but it cuts so close to the bone, a world destroyed by greed and the little people paying for it. I just couldn't get back to it and finished it although I was pretty close to the end. Don't get me wrong. The story is very well written, it is interesting and the characters are compelling but exactly that makes it so hard to read.

Sybille is starting The Warm Hands of Ghosts
I am nearly through and so far I've loved it all. Katherine Arden is a master at creating credible, realistic characters that you can care about. There's no spice for spice's sake like in so many other novels, but a good story that has been well written and that has a lot to say. So far I've liked all her books and I might well read her shopping list, too, ;) because the writing is so good and extraordinary.

I am racing through this because it's fun to read with exciting and interesting characters and a great story. The problem is when I finish it I am done. :(

I am in fact almost finished but have been foiled by Spotify with their measly 15 hours of listening time. So it will have to wait till I get more hours. :(

I've only just started but Mark Lawrence never disappoints with his intricate world where real people live.

I am more than half way through and it is an interesting story but I was interrupted by the Norovirus and found it hard to concentrate.

I am most of the way through but find it hard going. It's an interesting book & well written. However, for me it cuts so close to what we might be looking forward to if things continue as they are & it's hard to imagine and 'live through' in the pages of the book. So, I am just dipping in when I feel I can. That is in no way a criticism of the book, quite the opposite. But there's only so much bad news one can take.

I am about half way through and it's such a captivating story. It's slowly dragging you in deeper and deeper and you wonder where you'll end up but it doesn't really matter because the journey is fascinating all on its own. Highly recommend this.

I have been reading this very slowly to make it last because the next one is a while away. 9 more pages and then it will be done for now :(

It's been a ride with old and new characters and new dangers and old.

I was a bit worried that there was too much foreshadowing right at the start - a solution presenting itself - but it was resolved neatly and elegantly.

I am only a 3rd of the way through but love the story. I am a fairytale fiend and this is right up my street. I like the characters and the story (1001 night) has always been one of my favourites. I already bought the second book because I won't be able to wait once I am finished to read the next one.
