Read this many years ago when I was in school and still as wonderful a read today as it was then

Over half way through and starting to really connect with the character of Oskar. Heartbreaking at times but also strangely uplifting.

Really enjoyed this book. I’m in Oz right now and read it as a complimentary tour guide whilst I travelled the country. I followed much of Bill’s trajectory whilst reading this book which really brought the places he visited to life. It is at once both a really funny and hilarious narrative about the places and people he meets, combined with a history of Australias and its peoples. A must read

Took a while to get into but l really liked the characters and the story was riveting

Slow start but got better although imo not one of nick hornbys best books. Apparently made into a film.

Initially good but waned in places and lost interest though did finish it

Good book in parts but lost it’s excitement towards the end. But Ben hatch is an excellent author
