I have to be honest, I am not in to this book. I don’t know what it is. I am just not invested in any of the characters, and although there has been some world building, I am not invested in the faerie world either. I am going to finish it and hope it has some huge turnaround for me. Fingers crossed.

This is the second time I’ve attempted to read this book. I’m struggling to get into it again. It’s A LOT of world building that does not make a lot of sense in the beginning. Fingers crossed it comes together.

Fair warning, I am high school librarian, so I do read with a high-school reader lens.
Man, I am just not sure about this book. Is this the kind of book people say they love because they think they are supposed to? I'm not sure.
There is no doubting that A.S. King is a masterful rhetorician. The words are beautiful, but I fear they could be convulted and too abstract fora typical reader.

Again, very disappointed. This book/series showed so much promise, but it just fell flat for me. The characters are one-dimensional, the action is almost non existent, and the climax is a big let down. Great premise for a book, it attempts to ask big questions, but it just did not hit for me. Stick with Divergent, The Hunger Games, or Scythe if you are interested in this type of book.

I’m listening to this through our school’s Sora app. I am loving the audio book. It’s a good listen that keeps you centered in England.

I like the mystery aspect. It reminds me of One of Us is Lying (it had to be someone in the room!). To be honest though, I am not feeling invested in the characters. I find I just don’t care who did it. Fingers crossed for a big reveal that blows me away. 🤞

I’m liking the back and forth between World War II and present day. It reads a bit like Nicholas Sparks for me (hope that is a compliment???): some small town vibes, an instant connection fueled with will they/won’t they vibes, seems to be building toward a tragedy. Definitely keeping me up late reading.
