can't struggle on with this any longer. Much prefer watching the BBC adaptations

I'm parking this for now. I've tried very hard, 300 pages but its just not grabbing me at all. I'm gutted as I love a large tome to get lost in.

I'm about half way through and losing the will to live. Not for me.

2nd of a trilogy that deserves to be much better known. Can't wait to read the third part.

I didn't enjoy this as much as I'd hoped. There were flashes of Anne Tyler brilliance but I found Willa really annoying and overall had a very old fashioned feel.

I enjoyed this a lot - let down a bit by the ending imo but still a great read

enjoyable romp about one of my favourite periods and locations in time

nicely written but ultimately irritating. The repetition became hard to bear towards the end and I really wanted to know more about most of the many characters.

I didn't like this at all and in fact gave up after about 30 pages. The title is fantastic though.
