I've barely started this book and I am so sad. Welling up with tears sad. For so many reasons.

Finally giving Trudi Canavan another shot after my bitter disappointment with The High Lord

I've been excited about this book for ages - and cannot stand the audiobook narrator -_- Worst! Its the same as the last one and i do not remember being this irritated before.

"HE has no right to threaten my boyfriends. I'm eighteen. An adult. I don't need his help. I can threaten my boyfriends myself."

"I am a stick!"

"People fool you. And I was a fool, so it was easy for him.”
“You were just a girl.”
“Same difference. Same result."

Yeah! Lets do this thing!

This whole take on fame is very interesting, knowing its coming from the head of JK Rowling.

So far, it feels like its by the same person who wrote The Casual Vacancy, but not Harry Potter. So if you didn't like the Casual Vacancy, probably wide berth.

Gripping stuff - finding it very hard to put down!

Seriously trigger heavy book - do not read if any of the following upset you: rape (of schoolgirls), death of small children, self harm, teen suicide, drug abuse... and a whole plethroa of other things.

I still think its worth reading if you're interested in social issues, but i genuinely had no idea it would be so harrowing and graphic so beware if you're in any way sensitive to these things!

20 chapters in and its starting to grow on me. I think i'm finding it a lot more interesting now its a wider welfare social issue story, especially knowing how JK lived on welfare. Its very interesting seeing the different viewpoints from her perspective.

Yep, i'm never going to finish this. I just dont get on with it. I will watch the film instead (insert gasp of horror)
