Rotting gods, I’ve been waiting for this!!

Another book hangover book. I wish I understood better what happened at the end, but maybe I’m not supposed to?

I just read the prequel which was fantastic. Now rereading this one while Galva’s backstory is fresh in my mind.

Oh, how I love dark academia!

This book is precisely what I needed at this moment in time.

As dark and gritty as this novel is, I find myself laughing out loud at various quips and turns of phrase.

I have a son close to Hai’s age. He has lived a 180° different life. I try to imagine my own child navigating poverty and addiction. Can’t say I like the thought. All that to say that this book makes you think about unpleasant realities and how privileged many of us are.

I’m 50% through but I’ve stopped caring about the zealots. I’m about 10 minutes away from a DNF.

I’m so glad to be back in this world.

I’d happily read a whole book just about the Splendid Urn vs. Treasure Chest restaurant wars.

Already hooked!

I give the characters and pacing a 4. The religious people were so annoying though. It tainted the rest for me. I give it an overall 3.5 stars.

My first reading of this book (I had skipped in in previous read-throughs) but when I saw the graphic audio available I decided this was a great opportunity to both completely read all of the Stormlight Archives books so I’m 100% caught up on my Roshar lore when starting Wind and Truth, as well ass dip my toe into graphic audio. We’ll see how it goes! (Jan 2025)

Re-reading in anticipation of the third and final book of this trilogy.

Rereading the first two so I can dive into the third. While I love this author and these books, I find the term “thought cage” annoying and over used.

Already crying in chapter 5. 🥺

I am rereading this book I initially gave 3 stars because my favorite BookTokker promised me there's a pay off in the next two books!

Super engaging. I only just found out there was *scandal* around this book when it first came out which makes me all the more intrigued.

Rereading this gem so I can dive straight into the new one!

Totally hooked by chapter 2. That’s always a good sign.
