Glad I went with the audio book. He's reading it himself, so it's all the more compelling.

This is the first time I haven't been able to feel enthusiasm for a work by Susan Vreeland. Returned to the library unfinished.

What a beautiful novel! I have so many new insights into the world of the Impressionists, and particularly into the lives of Mary Cassatt and Edgar Degas. I can't wait to see the exhibition of their paintings at the National Gallery of Art. The book will add a whole new dimension to my enjoyment of it.

Listening to the audio book during my commute. On disk 8 (of 30). Fascinating! Hope Steven Spielberg will come through with a movie, since "Team of Rivals" was his basis for "Lincoln".

OK, but somewhat pretentious.

I enjoyed the audio book on the whole, but the story really bogged down in the middle. A hundred pages/a few disks less would have been much better.

Just finished this fascinating and moving family history. Laskin's family had three main branches: one that immigrated to New York and created the Maidenform Bra company, another that immigrated to Palestine in 1930's, and very tragically, one that remained in Europe and died horribly in the Holocaust. I feel as though I know all of them.
