The writing isn't bad but it's sometimes cringe? Which, fine. It's not cringe enough to turn me away. I also do like the ~men written by women~ vibes of the male characters in this book. It's the absence of toxic masculinity for me.

LISTEN! I don't always read romance but when I do, I make sure they're good ones!

OH WOW. so some shady shit is going on in this castle and Celaena fixates on Nehemia - a POC, a foreigner, and supposedly Celaena's "friend" - and suspects her to be behind it all. NVM all the other male characters with as much motive and no alibi! This is some white people BS, I swear.

Okay, so. A few things:

1. Gruesome murder is taking place all over this castle but I don't feel like anyone is adequately alarmed.
2. Did she actually eat all that Yulemas candy without knowing who they're from? And considering the first point, too. What kind of top assassin is this girl???
3. She wanted to appear inconspicuous while attending a ball but wore the flashiest dress ever. Got it.
