I don’t really want to read this anymore, the dialogue is clunky and I have a mild idea of where it’s going.

Only reading the first chapter but so cute!

This is delightful, though I don’t love the cozy fantasy genre this is very fun.

I’m not sure if this book is totally for me, especially since the first time I tried reading it I gave up on it, but I’m trying again!

I have been, and still sort of am, the kind of person Aled and Frances are. Incapable of saying their real feelings without adding “this is stupid, I’m so awkward, etc,” and pretty self conscious of all their feelings. And right now I am appreciating their friendship, and some of the topics explored, but because I have tried for so long not to be the person Frances is, I don’t totally want to read about her.

So Shiori is cursed, she can’t speak and if she does one of her brothers will die, but this also has NO impact on the story? She has almost no problem communicating with other people and it’s annoying me. Yes it does get her into unideal situations but once she sees her brothers she just mouths and gestures and writes in the dirt and it’s all fine and not a problem.

It does not fair well for me when I dislike a book on page six, but I think maybe I’m just not the target audience for YA anymore?
