I’m struggling to not DNF this, not much has happened at all really, just a lot of “little fiend.” And stabbing going on

I’m having a great time 😅

The more time we spend with the inner circle the more I’m like 🫪

Chapter 6 - Hilarious

Azriel - the self-loathing….. it feels like his mind is somewhere we should never be, surely Velaris has a therapist available no?

‘An artwork of a man will always be either vacant or untrustworthy.’

I’m listening to the audiobook and it’s okay so far, very Handmaids tale-esque

So far, Dax, Bane and Malek are all very protective of Sabine. Dax and Bane are brothers/demons and Malek is I suspect a dragon shifter… not much has happened so far except the heist and I’m hoping the plot picks up soon there is a lot of telling instead of showing but I have a feeling this series might get better in the following books

This is the first book in ‘The Dragon Portal’ series… dragons have been mentioned once so far… I will be gassed if Malek is some kind of dragon shifter 🐉 👀

I actually don’t know if I can put myself through a re-read of the series 🫠

I almost give it all up. Scrap the plan. Give in to his fear. I hate seeing him like this, and maybe that’s what love is, not fireworks or grand gestures, but this quiet ache. This undeniable truth that his happiness suddenly matters more than my own.

“It’s reckless, the things I’d do for you. The people I’d kill for you. The way I’d burn down the fucking world, turn it all to ash, to keep you safe.”

Carrson, the complicated tortured soul that you are 🫶🏽

I’ve seen the truth behind the curtain, how power is built on brutality and fear. If I don’t play the devil, someone worse will.

He’s beautiful in the most dangerous, dark way. The kind of beauty that makes you want to taste it even if it might kill you.

I hoped the fire would scorch away my shame. My pain. That all those emotions would float up in the air with the ashes, but they didn’t. I breathed it in, that toxic smoke, and it settled deep in my lungs, in my soul, and it’s been suffocating me every day since.

He pauses, gives me a long look, and asks, “Who hurt you?”

I eat this up every time 👏🏽

For some reason I can’t share any quotes directly from my Kindle to Goodreads which is annoying I’m not sure if it’s because it’s a NetGalley copy 🤷🏽‍♀️

I’m a bit bored tbh

It’s a bit info dumpy but the parts that aren’t world building being thrown at me I’m enjoying 🔮

Daemon has just met Jaenelle who has been at Briarwood? She’s emaciated and I think 12-14 years old at this point. He feels immense relief that he doesn’t desire her sexually 😵‍💫

“He could take some comfort that he didn’t want the child’s body, but the hunger he felt for what lived inside that’s body scared him.”

I am so disturbed 😶

False alarm ‼️ she isn’t his birth mother. My Bad I forgot but in my defence he addressed her as ‘mother’ 🫠

Daemons mother has just stuck her tongue in his mouth 🌚 what is going on in the House of Commons 😩 (If it’s any consolation he’s disgusted)

Saetan is the High lord of Hel and can reach into peoples minds to see their thoughts and memories 💭 Interestinggggg

I don’t think they know that they’re brothers 🙃

Daemon and Lucivar are brothers, they share the same father and they’ve just kissed? Sorry what? I think Daemon is under some kind of spell but ehhh? 🫠

The Eyriens who are a race of warriors compete in the Khaldharon Run which is basically the Blood Rite in ACOSF

“Only a handful of the best Eyrien warriors each year dare try the Khaldharon Run. It’s the absolute test of strength and skill, not a playground for girls who want to flit from place to place.”

I’m also not sure why the author chose the FMC to be a seven year old girl 🤷🏽‍♀️

Daemon is also a sex slave being used against his will…

There’s a character named Prythian and one named Surreal 👀

A High Lord of Hel

Daemon has golden skin and bat like wings 🦇

Okayyyyy

“That’s why I was broken on a Warlord’s spear and became shattered glass that only reflects what might have been.”
I love when I’m reading a book and I’m highlighting sentences on the first page.
I’m intrigued to see the similarity between this and SJM’s work 👀
I didn’t get more than a couple of chapters in last time I tried to read it but I’m hoping to finish the trilogy this time 🙌🏽

Very thought provoking
