I couldn’t finish this one. The premise is interesting but it’s too weird and not literary enough to keep me intrigued. And I guess I’m just not that into New York to keep going with the weirdness.

This has been sooooo boring. I can’t keep going. I’ve already wasted 5 hours and I cannot waste another 10 hours.

Marlise is starting The Checklist Manifesto: How to Get Things Right
Kind of a misleading title. It’s more about how things go wrong so easily in various sectors - medical, engineering, aircraft piloting, etc. I found there wasn’t actually much content regarding checklists or how to implement them effectively.

DNF. I can’t keep reading. It just goes on for sooooo long and doesn’t actually say anything. I got to page 70, half way through chapter 4 and I simply cannot keep reading.

I can’t finish it. It’s just not my kind of book. Wayyyy too graphic, too much violence, an inordinate amount of sexuality. Just not my style. So many recommended it so I gave it my best effort. But 600 more pages of this I cannot endure. The pages are either too boring (5 pages in a row just to describe a building) or too much (rape, murder, starvation, death) I’m putting it on my very short DNF list. Goodbye.

I’m only 2 chapters into this book and it has struck me to my core. It is beautiful and it sings to my soul. This is exactly what I needed at exactly this moment in time.

And the referenced poem ‘There Is Something I Wanted to Tell You’ by Ted Loder depicts my wilderness of the last few years so accurately, and then the emerging from the wilderness.....

"From start to finish, this movie [of life] is obviously about God. He is the main character. How is it possible that we live as though it is about us?"

So good. Exactly what I needed to read today.

💗"But how much happier you would be if you only knew that these people cared nothing about you! How much larger your life would be if you... could really look at other men with common curiosity and pleasure; if you could see them walking as they are in their sunny selfishness and their virile indifference... you would find yourself under a freer sky, in a street full of splendid strangers."
