Maybe this age group, or the particular struggles and behaviours of this friendship group at this age, is just not a time in life that interests me? I get that they’re immature and it’s not that they’re bad this is just the type of shit that happens. But their way of handling it leaves me bored, not interested in the dynamics of relationships. I don’t want to relive that particular brand of bullshit.

The rich ennui vibes of this book is a bit boring? I don’t necessarily dislike the characters, but it’s a bit much to have to read about their ‘problems’... They’re written as self-indulgent, but that doesn’t negate from finding it irritating. The voice actor is also so British posh sounding, and it’s starting to grate on me.

I always like second chance novels, but I am starting to feel a little uneasy about these characters. The juxtaposition between the current timeline and the overly romantic old timeline is worrying. However, I do really like that Grace’s character has not gone down some stereotypical villainous, vapid female character.

I enjoy that they have been forced to go in a mini. 5 people in a mini is particularly excruciating. I also like that Marcus, who has been given the role of a complete and utter twat, labels himself as the reforming rake.

Just started this book, and my first observation is that the tagline clearly states: 1 car, 5 people, and the drawing is distinctly showing only four people in the car. Grrr...!

So far this is beautifully written. Loved the description of the “giant mechanical dragons” flooding their wings up for the night, as the carnival wound down. And the description of when she says Evan’s name in the car surrounded by the rain - the writer taking of the power that comes from her speaking his name - power that she wants to play with. Just good moments, well described.
