This book has grabbed me right from the beginning and the side characters are so good I am trying to control myself from immediately buying the box set. Especially since they are on KU!!

I had no idea where this story was going but OMG it is getting there!

I cannot put this down. I had no idea this was a prequel to Divine Rivals! I have heard of it plenty, but have not read it yet. I wonder if this book would hit different having already known the world.

I have already seen the word ‘creeper’ at least 3 times which seems like way too many times for adult professionals 🤦‍♀️

Ellody is infuriating. I understand the enemies to lovers trope, but there has to be some motivations behind that. Her reactions to Wren are so juvenile and unwarranted. I’m trying to give leeway for her being young, but this may be a DNF for me. I hate when a character’s actions are just for the sake of the trope and without any real reason behind it.

Gave up on Kindle and Audible and switched to print. I actually reread everything in print because there has been a LOT of info dumped and I wasn’t sure I was retaining it. This definitely requires my full attention and I am here for it!

Well crap, that gut punch came fast!

I’m not sure I have the mental capacity to understand this book. I’m pretty sure a plane disappeared which is the main point of the book (it feels like Langoliers). But I don’t understand what year that happened in, there’s so much hopping around hopefully it straightens itself out because the premise is fun.

This is starting very similar to Broken Country. I l over BC, but I hope the story isn’t the same.

“Seventy percent of the planet is water. Most of that water is deep ocean. Less than 5% of the deep ocean is mapped. Humans know more about Mars. Anything could be down there”.

I don’t read enough about the ocean.

“Human beings are suckers to think they, with their matchstick villages balanced atop bread crusts of dry land, controlled anything at all. The lords lived below”.

This 12yo is really getting on my nerves. Don’t often read about spoiled brats during the Great Depression/Dust Bowl.

I can’t believe I am saying this, but I’m bored 😑. I hate that she is this bad ass rebel but is dumbing herself down. It’s getting real old and I need it to pick up very soon before I jump ship.

Did this author have a word count she needed to hit??? I can’t believe I’m only 50% through this book. It’s killing me that the story is so good but is being lost in useless scenes

I was really hoping to have seen some growth in these characters by now following all the trauma, but all I see is codependency and a lot of Deja vu. I had high hopes for this one but I’m bored 😞

Omg this book. Note to self… do not listen where other people can see me… bawling is imminent.

Still trying to figure out if the FMC is intentionally unlikable. I have to think yes because of how much she is annoying me.

40% in and still having the same conversations over and over. Maybe my parents aren’t my parents. Maybe Ian isn’t my brother. Literally the same banter from the last 2 books. I am stuck in a dryer tumble cycle not moving anywhere. Why do I do this to myself? I can’t seem to stop though 😬.

Definitely have to pick through a lot of the words in this book to figure out what the heck is going on. Minor pet peeve… changing one letter in common names and places to make things seem more “Fantasy”, but really are just awkward.

This book is destroying me.

Well, I enjoyed the beginning although a little unbelievable on how she would be the one to get to the treasure. I had a serious eye roll at 18% when obviously the next chapter of the book is set to begin. I am in the percentage that really dislikes Outlander (which seems to be the path this book is taking) so this may not be the book for me, however I will continue on until 50%.

I was thinking 4 stars for 80% of the book until the last 20% dragged too much. Well written though.
