So glad I read this: it took me right back to Barry’s Bay and the Florek brothers. I think One Golden Summer was better though, probably because the characters are adults. In this book, so much time is spent in the flashbacks, which are mostly just cringe. I wish we got to know the adult Percy a little bit more instead of just the Sam obsessed version.

This was a DNF for me. Either this is way over hyped or I am way too grown to be reading YA sci-fi anymore but this was shocking. The narration was awful and hard to read and the writing style was just confusing. It felt like the author was trying to be different and new but really it just came across as cringe worthy.
Maybe I have to let go of my connection with the genres I used to love as a vivacious preteen!
