The author missed out on a potentially significant turning point when Abraham comes to apologize for the first time and helps Artie believe that he is capable of writing a book when not a single one of his other friends had ever done that for him. At about 25% of the way through the book, we don't know a lot about Artie other than the fact he's smart but has low self-esteem.

I love Hall's writing AND this was a tough one to get through. There was a lot of running around and losing a potentially world-destroying object (several times). Storylines like this can indeed work, if there's an internal struggle/character growth along the way. But alas there wasn't. Still, I love the world building and the characters are fun, so onward I read.
