Just annoying - constant negativity it seems, which is not good for me and I don't want to see how much worse it might get.

Kind of amazing, including the audiobook narrator.

The religious stuff is getting really bothersome - heavy handed on the misogyny and unreverent anti-witchcraft...and also the political religiosity...just too much all around.

About halfway through, really liking this. Very well set up and well written.

Some 2 hrs + in and realizing this is nothing like what I like to read. It is a lot more grungy, and very low level deception and betrayal - no actual management or organization or strategy. Just bare knuckle combat.

Now listening to the audiobook.

It is really good with nice sci-fi and LitRPG elements, moving quickly and interestingly with lots of imaginative elements.

However, I just got to the part where he gets his assistance...I remember this as being an annoying element in the story...I hate this sort of intrusive romance that takes over a sci-fi story.

Will try to get back to it and finish.

this seems a lot better than the previous books so far...it might be the lack of personal relationship drama?
but beyond that, I am liking the overall style here including the military and such.

The author made it annoying :(

MC is "forced" by the prince to fight.

MC is targeted by assassins.

All he has to do is inform Odin or Thor (send message if needed) that these things are interfering with the work he was brought to do.

Both these things happen together, and are nothing but plot forcing.

I am realizing just how horrible many of the female voices are in this reading...I didn't notice this much annoyance in the previous books.

His voice is so deep and raspy that they sound like aged smoker transvestites. I am pretty sure this is not intended...

So far this seems to be the best of the series so far.

This story starts with the overused sob story segment. I was just getting fed up when the author actually gets on with the story.

So boo for the bs boring unnecessary poor-sad-hero section, but yay for cutting it short before it gets too grating.

I read this and maybe the next book in the series many years ago. I am trying the audiobook version now as I have mostly forgotten what the novel contains.

About 1/5 th into the book and not seeing much focus on the Luck stat. Overall an okay story but nothing special, and nothing that I much care about. It mostly seems like a collection of scenes more than an actual coherent story.

~84%, this is getting even worse, he is choosing to put himself at risk to help the one who has been tormenting him, and not asking for anything in return. This, when he knows the other person has what he needs to even keep going on without dying. It is absurd.

~50%, this is seeming like more of just the same old abusive situation stuff. Why do so many authors think people want to read about people being miserable in nasty social situations?

I had to stop listening. The gore was expected from a zombie story but the constant unwarrented personal abuse from even purported allies became too much for me. With nothing much to hold me to the story I am dropping it.
