I'm still on the fence and I'm almost finished so I think I will finish, but I came close to quitting. I kind of can't stand the protagonists. He is arrogant and just barrels over everyone, in a land HE is completely unfamiliar with, and SHE lets him. So meek it makes me want to strangle her. The story is intriguing and I hope I change my opinion by the end.

Shannon is starting The Note
I started listening to the audiobook and the narration was so awful I quit. I'll read the actual book.

I was wondering why a book about TB is so popular on Goodreads, and part of a reading challenge, until the author/narrator mentioned that he wrote The Fault in Our Stars. "Ohhhhh." I never read that because I assumed it was some hokey, bleak YA romance about a dying girl. I still probably won't read it. But this book is interesting and illuminating.

So far it's a bunch of women having babies. Hopefully there's eventually a plot.

So far I'm not sure if I like it or hate it. There is no plot yet. I'm reading with bated breath waiting for something to happen. His sentences are short, manic, and childlike. I *think* it's intentional, because the characters are manic and childlike. He does come up with some diamond metaphors. I was never a fan of terse writing style (I kind of can't stand Hemingway) so I am trying to set that bias aside for now.

On page three I was already cracking up. Always a good sign.

I just have to say how chilling this book is to read at times. It was written in the late 90s but it IS what is happening now (and what could be happening in the very near future if we keep on this current path). I won't tell every detail that I've noticed so far, but the president, while running, says he's going to "make America great again." I think that gets the message across. It's scary.

Shannon is reading Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage
I was listening to this audiobook, but I just can't pay the attention it deserves. So I'll have to add the actual book to my list.

I'm actually reading the English translation, since my Spanish is terrible, but it wasn't on the list.

Shannon is reading War Brides
I was so immersed in WWII after the last book I read that I didn't want to leave that era. But I needed a break from a history book, so I chose fiction. So far it's ok, kinda sappy.

I'm re-reading this, because I was in need of a book and it was handy. I haven't read it since college, so a re-read is due.

Had to take a break from the history to squeeze in some fiction. Good so far, but dry and educational.

Listened to half the audio book. It is about what I expected so far...kinda crappy. Then I saw that Tom Cruise is doing a movie of it--so yeah.
