Getting to meet some new characters outside of cheater man Stiva. (1) Dolly - Stiva's wronged wife. (2) Levin - a socially awkward guy who is apparently going to be a major protagonist. Levin is in love with Dolly's sister, Kitty, but he thinks he's not good enough for her so he hasn't acted on it. We still haven't met the titular, Anna, but I'm sure she's coming.

Oblonsky is really just upset he got caught. The servants are naturally on his side. Anna is coming and will apparently make everything okay!

The male author/narrator described a woman smelling like baby powder and that really gave me the ick in a major way, but I'm still giving this a chance.

Started this bc it was languishing on my kindle. Expected to give it up when something else caught my eye but have been plowing through a little each night and enjoying well enough.

In which we meet Prince Stepan Arkadyevitch Oblonsky (aka Stiva) and learn of his unfortunate state of affairs (literally).

I feel like I might have either found a pretty significant author mistake or a clue...only time will tell!

Nothing against the quality of the book, but I really can't wait to be done with these people!

This is a tough read as it really challenges faith in goodness and humanity.

I am absolutely loving this book. I honestly don't think I'll ever forget what happened to Gaga. Also, honestly, what was the Red Cross even good for?? And, finally, it kind of hurts to see what beautiful letters people used to write too eacother.
