Oh I'm remembering why I had a hard time with some of the earlier books. The "extreme leftist" side antagonist is so ridiculous it comes around to doing misogynistic and maybe lesphobic. And these two are so emotionally constipated it's not even slow burn its just annoying at this point.

This book would be much better if we filled time with a more complicated investigation instead of Elliott taking a wildly long time to realize something is wrong.
