I’m really devastated at how bad it’s gotten. There is nothing happening and I am 460 pages in. This used to be my all-time favorite series and now I just don’t think I can continue. I want story density back.
Some of these enormous fantasy books could lose 200–300 pages and become significantly better books. A mediocre 350-page book is disappointing. A mediocre 800-page book is a hostage situation.
